The tree of Life door was originally found at the foot of the stairs inside the thatched cottage owned by Daniel Thatcher, and was once used by a group of Gnomes seen to be transporting woven goods here and there. The gnomes were of good character and were very much welcome to frequent the property, and often made trinkets from discarded objects such as twigs, acorns and berries. Their names were willowreek, twiggash and soilstitch, but we believe there were many others.

This door was seen upon the wall to the cellar, frequently fairies were seen darting in and out of the door-fairies that appeared like vibrating balls of light. They were traditional fairies in every sense of the word, flittering around with no discernible features. Sometimes they played tricks on Daniel Thatcher by dropping breadcrumbs on to him as he walked through doorways.

On his travels, Daniel Thatcher documented many places around Britain, including Glastonbury, and  most notably Glastonbury Tor which can be seen painted on one of his doors. He enjoyed relaxing at the chalice well, the symbol of which can also be seen on this door.

This door has caused the most trouble, but yet the most sought after, probably for that very reason. When children left their teeth beneath their pillow for the tooth fairy to take, their teeth would be taken, but their teeth would often end up encased upon this door and others.  Dark creatures frequented from this door which is symbolised by the Baphomet insignia. The teeth were prized for their milky surface which were used for scrying; an ancient art to predict the future.

Legend has it that an old hag lived behind this door, and on occasion it would be left open for Daniel Thatcher to peer inside. On his hands and knees-what he saw chilled him to the core, for it opened up to a kitchen, a stone floor, a stove with broth and hanging magic implements over the hearth, bones of animals and skin of reptiles adorned the surfaces. There was always an orange glow inside until the door would slam shut, letting Daniel know he was certainly not welcome.
